1. Scope of services
MSL acts as a freight forwarder, customs broker and warehouse operator. Unless expressly agreed in writing, MSL is not a carrier, and does not undertake the physical carriage of goods. Where MSL contracts with carriers on behalf of the customer, it does so as agent.
2. Quotations & rates
Quotations are valid for 14 days from issue and are subject to change without notice in the event of currency, fuel, security, or carrier surcharge fluctuations beyond MSL's control. Acceptance of a quotation constitutes acceptance of these terms.
3. Customer obligations
The customer warrants that all information supplied to MSL is accurate, that the goods are properly described, marked, packed and labelled, and that all necessary export and import licences, permits and documents have been obtained.
4. Dangerous goods
The customer must declare any dangerous, hazardous or regulated goods in writing prior to booking. MSL reserves the right to refuse or surcharge undeclared dangerous goods and may dispose of non-compliant cargo at the customer's expense.
5. Liability
MSL's liability is limited to the values set out in the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) Model Rules and the relevant local laws of the Republic of Maldives. The customer is strongly encouraged to take out cargo insurance. See our Cargo Insurance service for details.
6. Payment
Invoices are payable in full within 14 days of issue unless alternative credit terms have been agreed in writing. MSL retains a general lien on all goods in its possession for any unpaid sums.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Maldives and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malé.
